WHY DID YOU BECOME A DJ?
Music has always been a driving force in my life. Unfortunately i never learned to play any instruments. That by mixing two records, completely new sounds could be created, fascinated me. Later the laptop, as a "new instrument" replaced my records.
WHICH ONE TRACK WOULD EXPLAIN YOUR STYLE?
That is really difficult to answer. One track, which until now remained really close to me, is a piece i made a few years ago: "Leave My Head Alone Brain". In my music, i try to combine as many influences as possible and create something new from that. In this track Techno meets Jazz, hard meets soft and funny meets serious.
HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT YOUR NAME?
My parents gave it to me.
WHO GOT YOU INTO THE BIZ?
Sasse from Moodmusic was the first to put one of my tracks onto a record. That was a really big step for me. Of course i was playing before that already, but the first own record was really important and after that things just began to roll.
WHATS YOUR FAVOURITE CLUB IN BERLIN?
At the moment its the Panoramabar.
EXPLAIN THE PANORAMA BAR TO A TOURIST?
You will feel comfortable there if you want to.
WHY DOES BERLIN HAVE THIS TECHNO MAGIC?
The sound simply suits the city. Techno was probabaly thinking: " this place is ok, the people are nice to me, i will stay here".
IF DJS WANNA BE REALLY SUCCESSFUL, MUST THEY ALSO PRODUCE?
I dont think you really have to, but a good track certainly helps popularity internationally.
ASIDES FROM THE MUSIC YOU PLAY, DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE ENTERTAINMENT FOR CROWDS?
I have great fun when i play and i like to show this. Its super when this spark hits the dancefloor and the audience.
TOGETHER WITH WHOM WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO PLAY A BACK TO BACK SET?
Oh there are quite a few on that list. In august i play back to back with Jesse Rose on the turntables and me on the laptop, live at the Panoramabar. We spontaneously did this a couple of months ago in Barcelona- was great!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO UPCOMING BERLIN DJS?
I think at the moment, many DJs play the same sound. I think its a great opportunity for upcoming djs to play new and different things than the others, to find one's own sound - only then you will be re-recogized.
ANY IDOLS? ANY INSPIRATIONS? ANY SUGGESTIONS?
For me inspiration was everywhere. You only have to take quick look at the little things.
AND WHAT DO YOU LISTEN TO AT HOME?
Everything i find- but if its possible no MP3s.
WHAT DO YOU RECKON BERLIN IS GONNA BE LIKE IN 5 YEARS?
